Analyzing Student Supports in Destreamed Math: Helping Students Succeed and Make Informed Choices About PSE (HEQCO)
The July 2020 decision by the Ontario government to de-stream Grade 9 compulsory courses, starting with Grade 9 math, has the potential to create more equitable opportunities for students graduating high school. This report finds that the policy is showing early signs of success, but that usage rates of province-wide academic supports have generally been low.
Structural Changes in Canadian Employment from 1997 to 2022 (European Commission)
This paper uses the European Jobs Monitor (2017) ‘jobs’ approach to examine the structural changes in employment and wages in Canada between 1997 and 2022. Changes in employment and real wages reveal a long-term pattern of upgrading, particularly after the 2008 financial crisis. Canada’s aging population has resulted in a growing share of mature workers.
