This list shares webinars that aim to help build inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities. The following webinars examine a multitude of topics and issues related to disability inclusion including assistive technology, diversity and equity, accommodations, and barriers to sustainable employment.  

Accessibility Services Canada 

Accessibility Services Canada helps nonprofits and businesses in Canada to understand and comply with provincial accessibility legislation. The organization has many on-demand webinars on a variety of topics including document accessibility, hidden disabilities and hosting accessible events.  

Assistive Technology Services Webinar (Neil Squire Society)  

The Neil Squire Society is committed to revolutionizing the lives of Canadians with disabilities through accessible assistive technology. The society has a recurring webinar on assistive technology every Wednesday that covers topics including workplace accommodations, funding options and community support programs.  

Building Diverse & Equitable Nonprofit Boards: A Panel Discussion With Sector Experts (CharityVillage)  

A 2021 survey by Statistics Canada found that people with disabilities are among the groups who are vastly underrepresented on the boards of directors for non-profits and charities. This webinar discusses the implications of these findings and what organizations can do to build a more diverse and equitable sector, starting with their boards. 

Canadian Association for Supported Employment  

The Canadian Association for Supported Employment non-profit offers many webinars on issues of disability in the workplace. Among the many webinars, An Accessible Future: Resources for Hiring Persons with Disabilities Webinar enhances employers’ understanding of disability and encourages the hiring of persons with disabilities to meet labour needs. Some of the other webinars include exploring accommodations, neurodiversity and accessible workplaces  

Creating an Inclusive Workplace Together​​ (AIDE Canada)  

In this webinar, The Sinneave Family Foundation, which works to reduce barriers and enhance opportunities for autistic youth and adults, shares an approach to creating inclusive workplaces by looking at the actions and responsibilities of both the employee and employer.  

DE&I in the workplace: don’t forget accessibility (IAAP)  

Ryan Graham, chief technology officer at Texthelp, discusses why businesses need to move disability inclusion to the core of their diversity, equity and inclusion strategy. Viewers will learn reasons why companies need to make this move, the benefits of promoting inclusion and universal access, and steps that companies can take to improve accessibility for all. Disability inclusion in the workplace: a matter of relationship and context (Osler) 

Recorded earlier this year, this webinar by Osler law firm looks at disability inclusion in the workplace. Facilitated by researcher, speaker and organizational psychology consultant Charles Lapierre, this webinar discusses and examines the multifaceted nature of disabilities and the importance of seeing disability as part of diversity. Disability-Inclusive Workplace Culture: Building it to Last (The Employer Assistance and Resource Network on Disability Inclusion EARN)  

This webinar explores how leading companies build and sustain disability-inclusive cultures that can continually attract and retain qualified employees with disabilities.   

Job Accommodation Network  

The Job Accommodation Network (JAN) provides free expert guidance on job accommodations and disability employment issues. One of the webinars covers the topic of Accommodation Solutions for Employees with Intellectual Disabilities. Other webinars cover topics such as assistive technology, accommodation solutions for fine motor limitations and accommodation solutions for neurodivergent workers 

Presenting the Business Case For Disability Inclusion Within Your Organization (RespectAbility)   

Presented by senior policy advisor at RespectAbility Matan Koch, this webinar looks at the economic value of disability inclusion. RespectAbility also has a webinar that shares best practices when planning employee resource group events for all participants. The webinar looks at in-person and virtual events.   

Supporting Career Development through Multiple Lenses of Mental Health and Well-Being: Focus on Disabilities and Differ-Abilities – (NCDA)  

The first part in a series of webinars, this panel discussion focuses on diversity, equity, inclusion, justice and accessibility (DEIJA) as it relates to disabilities and career. Statistics show that people with disabilities have the highest unemployment rate among men and women. The panelists discuss barriers to sustainable employment, overall mental health and well-being, and the general work environment for people with disabilities.   

The Power of Inclusive Workplaces (The Rick Hansen Foundation)  

The Rick Hansen Foundation works on breaking down barriers that people with disabilities still face. Recorded in June 2022, this webinar is designed to provoke conversation on how a disability-inclusive workplace promotes equity and inclusion and provides helpful tips to bring back to the workplace.
