CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are several reports that we found interesting this week.

Labour Force Survey, April 2023 (Statistics Canada)

Employment rose by 41,000 (+0.2%) in April, all in part-time work. The unemployment rate was 5.0% in April, unchanged since December 2022. Employment in wholesale and retail trade increased by 24,000 in April, following little change in February and March.

Working (and Learning) Online: Improving Remote Work-integrated Learning Experiences for Students and Employers (HEQCO)

This report shares lessons from student, employer and institutional experiences with remote WIL during the 2020-21 academic year. Students and employers in remote and hybrid WIL reported challenges related to professional development. For students, “remote networking and making connections” was the most significant challenge while employers cited difficulty with communication and connection.

Joining Forces for Gender Equality: What is Holding us Back? (OECD)

This publication analyzes developments and policies for gender equality, such as gender mainstreaming and budgeting, reforms to increase fathers’ involvement in parental leave and childcare, pay transparency initiatives to tackle gender pay gaps, and systems to address gender-based violence.
