Each week, CERIC is on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are four reports that we found interesting this week:

Why they ‘quit you’: Top reasons an employee leaves (PayScale)

What are the top reasons people are leaving a job? And what attracts people to their new organization? The latest PayScale research takes a deep dive into this to find out what is affecting employee retention and what employees are looking for in a new organization.

Educational and labour market outcomes of children with an immigrant background by their region of origin (Statistics Canada)

Based on integrated data from the 2006 and 2016 censuses, the study examines the education and labour market outcomes of a cohort of children with an immigrant background. It compares the outcomes of children of immigrants from various regions of origin with those of children with Canadian-born parents.

Canada’s Growth Currency: Digital Talent Outlook 2023 (ICTC)

Canada’s demand for digitally skilled talent is expected to reach 305,000 by 2023, for total employment of over 2 million in the digital economy. The report identifies full-stack developers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers as three of the 15 top digital jobs that will be most needed in Canada.

Supporting students’ mental health: A collective responsibility (People for Education)

This report shows that there are substantial regional disparities across Ontario in access to supports such as social workers, psychologists, and child and youth workers. Based on survey responses from 1254 schools from across Ontario, the report says that many principals are concerned that students’ challenges are beyond the training and capacity of educators and staff.
