Each week, CERIC is on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are four reports that we found interesting this week:
Educational and labour market outcomes of children with an immigrant background by their region of origin (Statistics Canada)
Based on integrated data from the 2006 and 2016 censuses, the study examines the education and labour market outcomes of a cohort of children with an immigrant background. It compares the outcomes of children of immigrants from various regions of origin with those of children with Canadian-born parents.
Canada’s demand for digitally skilled talent is expected to reach 305,000 by 2023, for total employment of over 2 million in the digital economy. The report identifies full-stack developers, data scientists, and DevOps engineers as three of the 15 top digital jobs that will be most needed in Canada.
This report shows that there are substantial regional disparities across Ontario in access to supports such as social workers, psychologists, and child and youth workers. Based on survey responses from 1254 schools from across Ontario, the report says that many principals are concerned that students’ challenges are beyond the training and capacity of educators and staff.
