Mapping Racialized Experiences in the Real Estate Development Industry (Future Skills Centre)

This research explores the state of racialized folks in real estate development and housing, looks at the opportunities that exist for launching ventures in emerging areas and analyzes primary research with racialized professionals to understand their perspective on the industry and what supports would help them to step into their career aspirations.

What we know about the skills and early labour market outcomes of refugees from Ukraine (OECD)
The limited information currently available regarding the previous work experience of Ukrainian refugees suggests that the vast majority were employed at the onset of the war. Despite their relatively swift entry into the labour market, as much of the early employment uptake has been concentrated in low-skilled jobs, skills mismatches are widespread.
Official language proficiency and immigrant labour market outcomes: Evidence from test-based multidimensional measures of language skills (Statistics Canada)

This study asks four questions:

  1. Do language test scores improve the predictive power of official languages for labour market outcomes of economic immigrants?
  2. What is the relative importance of the four official language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing?
  3. How do official language skills mediate the effects of other key human capital factors on earnings among immigrants?
  4. Does the effect of language test scores differ by immigration admission program?
