CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are three reports that we found interesting this week.

Assessing Basic Cognitive Skill Development and Transferable Life Skills in College Students from Admission to Graduation (HEQCO)

This report shares results from a research project at Mohawk College that aimed to measure the essential skill development of two- and three-year diploma students. It sought to build a profile of a Mohawk graduate that covered basic cognitive skills (reading, writing and mathematics), higher-order cognitive skills (specifically critical thinking) and transferable attitudes toward learning (e.g. motivation, confidence and career clarity).

Ontario’s Employment Services Transformation: Early Insights Report (First Work)

As Ontario undergoes a process of employment services delivery transformation, First Work aims to understand and capture the successes and challenges faced by the prototype regions through ongoing research and open dialogue. This report highlights the initial findings of this project and poses recommendations to inform the sector, government, service providers and prospective SSMs.

Labour Force Survey, September 2021 (Statistics Canada)

Employment returned to its February 2020 level in September, increasing by 157,000. Increases in employment were concentrated in full-time work, and among people in the core working age group of 25 to 54.
