CareerWise is a source of news, analysis and resources for anyone working in career or employment services or who has an interest in career development. We publish new guest blogs twice a week in our Podium section, sharing original perspectives, timely analysis, practical tips and more.
CareerWise welcomes writing inquiries and blog proposals (a brief description of your article idea) at any time. We invite submissions from community voices and established experts alike. Previous writing experience is not required; editorial support will be provided to contributors. Think we’re missing an important topic or point of view? Your knowledge and experience can help us fill the gap.
Please review the Submission Guidelines and process details below. We also have a Common Questions and Concerns page with additional information. You can reach out to CareerWise Editor Lindsay Purchase (careerwise@ceric.ca) with any questions.

Blog must be relevant to individuals who are doing work connected to / have interests in career development. We welcome one-time blogs and are also open to regular contributions.
A blog that is a good fit for CareerWise should meet the following criteria:

If you would like to write a blog post for CareerWise, reach out to Editor Lindsay Purchase at careerwise@ceric.ca. If you have a topic idea in mind, please include a brief outline or description of your proposed topic and what you would like to include in your blog.
If you are interested in writing but do not have a topic idea in mind, that’s okay too! You can still send an email to indicate your interest and to receive more information. Editor Lindsay Purchase would be happy to have an exploratory call to discuss potential ideas and further explain the process.
If this is your first time writing for CareerWise, the Editor will set up a short call to get acquainted, answer any questions and discuss potential article ideas. The Editor and contributor will jointly set a deadline for a first draft of the article that aligns with the CareerWise editorial calendar and the contributor’s availability. If the blog topic needs further clarification, the Editor may request a detailed outline.
The contributor will submit their article by email to the Editor in a Word document. (If the contributor does not have access to Word, Google Docs or Apple Pages can be used.) Blog headlines will be determined by the Editor, but contributors are welcome to provide suggestions.
CareerWise requests that contributors submit a headshot (at least 300 pixels wide, in either JPG or PNG format) as a separate email attachment. Contributors must also provide a two- to three-sentence author bio outlining relevant work and educational experience. Your author profile can include contact information (e.g. social media profiles, website, email, etc.) if desired.
Every article submitted to CareerWise is edited for grammar, structure and clarity. The contributor may be requested to make revisions. Check out our Common Questions and Concerns page for a more detailed description of the editing process.
Contributors will be notified via email when their blog is published on the CareerWise website. CERIC reserves the right to update links and information as needed in articles on the CareerWise website.
CareerWise blogs are shared in the CareerWise Weekly newsletter and promoted through CERIC’s social media accounts. We encourage contributors to share their CareerWise blogs through their social media networks.
While original content is preferred, CareerWise will consider requests to cross-post blogs that were first published on other websites. If a blog is selected for republication, credit will be given to the author and a link will be included to the original content.
Requests to repost a blog originally published on CareerWise on another website can be sent to careerwise@ceric.ca. Any CareerWise blogs that are reposted must include credit to the writer and CareerWise and a link to the original article.
If you have read an article online that you think our audience would enjoy, please share it with us through social media or by email and we may feature it in the CareerWise Weekly newsletter.
