Newcomer Canadians are a diverse group with a wide range in work experience. However, even clients with extensive prior work experience may need assistance navigating the Canadian employment landscape. These websites can help them get a strong start in their Canadian career journey.

Find free newcomer services near you (Government of Canada)

This search tool allows newcomers to search by postal code to find services in their area. Users can specify the type of services they are looking for, from help finding a job, to services for refugees, to job-specific-language training and services for LGBTQ2.

Business guide for newcomers to Canada (Canada Business Ontario)

This guide provides some of the basic requirements for starting a business in Ontario. While some of the resources it includes are Ontario-specific, it offers guidance applicable to newcomers interested in starting a business across the country.

Hire Immigrants

While this website is directed toward employers, it provides success stories of newcomers working in Canada, and also has guides and reports related to newcomer employment.

Settlement.org

Settlement.org is an Ontario-focused website, but it provides a wealth of information that would be useful to newcomer jobseekers across Canada. Its Employment page answers such questions as: “Why should I find help to get work?” “What is labour market information?” and “How do I create a Canadian-style resume in order to find a job?”

Skilled Immigrant InfoCentre

The Skilled Immigrant InfoCentre is an online and in-person resource centre that helps newcomers to Canada find the information they need to get a job, explore careers or start a business. All of its services and resources are free and are created by staff at Vancouver Public Library.
