Mentorship in the workplace: Employee participation and perspectives (Diversity Institute)

Mentorship can be a powerful tool for career growth, but how many workers actually have a mentor? This report outlines who benefits more from mentorship and how it impacts career advancement, job satisfaction and skill development.

Balancing Canada’s Population Growth and Ageing Through Immigration Policy (C.D. Howe)

Canada faces twin demographic pressures: an aging population and rapid population growth driven by immigration. The report argues that immigration levels must strike a careful balance – sufficient to offset some effects of low fertility and an ageing workforce, but not so high as to outpace infrastructure and economic capacity.

Adapting to change: The COVID-19 impact on self-employment transitions in Canada (Statistics Canada)

Based on 2017 to 2021 data from the Canadian Employer-Employee Dynamics Database, the findings suggest a decline in self-employment with the onset of the pandemic. This is evidenced by both lower entry into self-employment and higher exit out of it.

Québec’s Digital Economy: Outlook 2030 (ICTC)

Quebec faces a cooling information and communications technology (ICT) job market marked by declining research and development spending, increasing ICT unemployment rates and reductions in the number of ICT job postings. While demand for tech talent surged early in the post-pandemic period, recent data indicates that Quebec’s ICT labour market has transitioned from favouring jobseekers to favouring employers.
