Spring 2024 conferences for career and workforce professionals

Whether you’re looking for opportunities to network in person or advance your learning in a virtual space, there are numerous opportunities at conferences taking place over the next few months. While most of the events listed are in Canada or virtual, several international conferences are also included. Check out events taking place from March to June, for career development professionals, counsellors, educators, HR professionals and others who intersect with careers work.

The Forum (NAWB) 

March 23-26 | Washington, DC

Talent Across Generations (HRPA) 

April 13, 2024 | Virtual 

How do employers bridge the gap between existing talent and the expectations of Gen Z talent? This micro-conference will help attendees connect the dots by identifying the gaps in their talent strategy.  

2024 OCEA Spring Conference (Ontario Cooperative Education Association) 

April 14-16 | Mississauga, ON 

This event will bring together secondary school co-op and other forms of experiential learning teachers/educators from across Ontario for professional development and best practices sharing. This year’s theme is Cooperative Education: It’s Working! 

uLead (Canadian Association of Principals) 

April 14-16, 2024 | Banff, AB

2024 APCDA Hybrid Conference (Asia Pacific Career Development Association) 

April 15-27 | Trivandrum, Kerala, India & virtual  

Week 1 of the conference (“Reinvention 5.0”) is virtual, while week 2 can be attended virtually or in-person. The APCDA provides an international forum for sharing career development ideas and experiences in the Asia Pacific. The audience will consist of delegates from many Asian countries and regions as well as other parts of the world.   and visions of the future. 

Amplify (First Work) 

April 16 | Toronto 

This year’s theme is “Workforce Catalyst: Building Healthy Ecosystems.” This conference seeks to amplify the importance of:

2024 Career Development Conference (BCCDA) 

April 19 | Vancouver and virtual 

The conference will start with a one-day long Career Development Symposium on April 19, hosted in person and streamed online. The conference will feature a keynote from Tim Tamashiro, author of How to Ikigai. The symposium is going to be followed by a series of webinars from April 23-June 4.

CAP Toronto (Canadian Association of Principals)

CICan 2024 Connection Conference (Colleges & Institutes Canada) 

April 29 – May 1 | Calgary 

This year’s theme, Growing Talent, will offer post-secondary leaders and stakeholders from across Canada and around the world the opportunity to discuss, share and be inspired by how we are growing talent for success in a rapidly changing world. 

HR Conference & Expo 2024 

April 30 – May 1 | Vancouver 

This conference will bring HR Professionals together from across BC and Yukon to learn from some of the industry’s greatest thought leaders. This year’s conference theme is “Flourish.”

SEMM Forum Conference (Brainstorm Strategy Group) 

May 8-9 | Virtual 

When professionals learn from other institutions and share Canadian-made solutions across silos, organizational goals can be achieved and students benefit as a result. The SEMM Forum is for anyone involved in attracting, recruiting or engaging students in their post-secondary experience in Canada. 

Good Life Summit (Discover Year)

This event is for anyone interested in creating a more meaningful life. This includes (but is not limited to): high school students (Grade 10-12), university and college students, young professionals, educators and parents.

Nonprofit Driven 2024 (Ontario Nonprofit Network)  

May 14-15 | Toronto 

Nonprofit Driven is an annual public policy conference. It is also an important gathering for non-profit leaders, community organizers and policymakers to collaborate and form strategic partnerships. 

Future of Aging Summit (RTOERO) 

May 15-17 | Toronto 

The international conference will bring together experts and thinkers from various sectors, all with a common focus: improving later life. Sessions include “Employment and workforce participation” and “Ageism and discrimination.” 

CAUCE 2024 National Hybrid Conference (Canadian Association for University Continuing Education) 

May 22-24 | Calgary 

The 2024 CAUCE conference explores the theme of “Reignite Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Continuing Education.” This conference will bring together professionals in university continuing education from across Canada to share ideas and best practices, deliberate on important topics, develop and strengthen networks, and to reflect on the place of continuing education in broader society. 

2024 VRA National Conference (VRA Canada) 

May 29-31 | Winnipeg 

The 2024 VRA Canada conference is on the theme of “Upholding our Values: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.” It will include a keynote from Isha Khan, CEO of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. 

ATA CSC Annual Conference (Alberta Teachers’ Association Council of School Counsellors) 

May 31 – June 1 | Kananaskis, AB 

This year’s conference explores “Elevate Minds, Inspire Hearts: A Mental Health Summit.” A pre-conference event is also available for registration on May 30.  

CCPA 2024 Annual Conference (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association)  

May 31 – June 2 | Charlottetown 

This year’s conference, “Navigating Trauma, Finding Connection,” will share knowledge and insights on the nature and impacts of trauma. It will also explore the importance and value of connection and restoration of our sense of togetherness.

2024 National Apprenticeship Conference (Canadian Apprenticeship Forum) 

June 2-4 | Calgary 

The 2024 National Apprenticeship Conference will bring Canada’s apprenticeship community together to highlight promising practices and innovative solutions in apprenticeship training. More than 500 delegates are expected to participate over three days. 

NACE Conference + Expo (National Association of Colleges and Employers) 

June 3-5 | Phoenix, AZ 

More than 2,000 career services professionals, early talent recruiters and business solutions providers will converge to discuss leading practices and trends, engage with globally recognized subject matter experts, and to network and connect. 

CACUSS 2024 (Canadian Association of College & University Student Services) 

June 4-6 | Virtual 

This year’s conference theme, “Supporting our students; Sustaining ourselves,” returns attendees to the core of their work as student affairs & services practitioners. The CACUSS mission is to advocate for the interests of students, provide support for the whole person, and consider learners’ multiple identities and perspectives.  

Canadian Association for Supported Employment Conference (CASE) 

June 11-13 | Regina 

This year’s conference will explore the theme of “Advancing in the Workplace.” Reconnect with peers from across the country and attend valuable sessions with knowledgeable speakers. 

CSSE Annual Conference (Canadian Society for the Study of Education) 

June 12-17 | Montreal 

The CSSE Annual Conference is part of the Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences, which will explore the theme of Sustaining shared futures. All delegates attending or presenting at the CSSE conference are required to register for the CSSE conference and Congress. 

Canadian Knowledge Mobilization Forum (CKF)  

June 19-21 | Montreal

The CKF is a biennial event that provides opportunities for professional development, learning and networking for those interested in knowledge mobilization, translation and exchange. It brings together a community dedicated to sharing learnings, best practices, tools and resources. 

CEWIL 2024 (Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada) 

June 24-27 | Calgary 

The conference – “Reaching New Heights: 50 Years of Leading Quality WIL in Canada” – will inspire attendees to expand the possibilities for the field of work-integrated learning. It will include 50+ sessions and over 400 delegates.
