Labour Force Survey, January 2023 (Statistics Canada)
Employment increased by 150,000 (+0.8%) in January, and the unemployment rate held steady at 5.0%. The unemployment rate trended down for most core-aged racialized population groups in the 12 months to January, but remained higher than the national average for several groups.
Labour Market Outcomes of Immigrant Youth: Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic (LMIC)
This report assesses how immigrant youth are faring in Canada’s labour market and how they have recovered from the pandemic. It finds that key indicators, including labour force participation, employment and wages, were initially lower but have improved post-pandemic and are getting closer to those of Canadian-born youth.
Mapping the Impacts of COVID Disruptions on Postsecondary Access in Ontario in COVID School Year 2 (HEQCO)
Among the findings:
- Grade 12 students’ grades increased dramatically during the pandemic
- Students with “medium” prior achievements saw the greatest increase in university confirmations
- Males, first-generation students, and many racial groups saw improved post-secondary access
- Students with Special Education Needs (SEN) experienced greater COVID-19 challenges
