The Long-Term Effects of Financial Aid and Career Education: Evidence from a Randomized Experiment (Laëtitia Renée)

This paper examines an experiment that offered 4,400 Canadian high school students either the chance to participate in career planning workshops in high school or the chance to receive an $8,000 grant upon college enrolment. The author demonstrates that the career education intervention greatly improved their outcomes in the long run.

Internet-use Typology of Canadians: Online Activities and Digital Skills (Statistics Canada)

Individuals’ capacities to use the internet and digital technologies are an important aspect of this digital divide. This study finds that almost one-in-four Canadians (24%) had either no engagement or only very limited engagement with the internet and digital technologies in late 2018 or early 2019. Age and education are strongly associated with the distribution of Canadians across proficiency groups.

Learning from the Past, Looking to the Future (OECD)

The COVID-19 crisis has amplified the many inadequacies and inequities in education systems. As the future continues to surprise us, the importance of resilience, adaptability and fairness in education will only grow. To be truly fair and impactful, education should work to adapt to students’ differences.
