CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are several reports that we found interesting this week.

Career Development in 2040: How the Changing Nature of Work Will Impact the Concept of Careers and the Role and Identity of Career Developers (CERIC & Creative Futures)

This report sheds light on 10 megatrends that will shape the future of work in Canada. Career Development in 2040 digs into the trends that workers, employers – as well as those who advise them – need to understand to thrive in a labour market facing massive disruption. The research was based on an extensive literature review as well as interviews with career development professionals (CDPs) and career services users.

The Impact of Work-Integrated Learning on Student Success and the Canadian Economy (ICTC)

This study evaluates Canada’s Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) through four surveys, including a survey of SWPP students and SWPP employers, as well as “control” surveys of students and employers who have (a) participated in a form of WIL other than the SWPP or (b) not participated in WIL at all.

Improving Workplace Experiences and Career Outcomes for Canadians With Disabilities (Conference Board of Canada) 

This research examines the barriers that Canadians with disabilities face in the workplace and offers strategies that employers and governments can undertake to improve career advancement for people with disabilities.

Conversations to Connections: Insights and perspectives from the Canadian skills and workforce development community (Future Skills Centre)

This report shares insights from Conversations to Connections (C2C). The relationship building and insight gathering objectives of C2C were intentionally developed in order to incorporate the experiences and voices of practitioners into the foundation of a community of practice. Throughout C2C, a broad and diverse group of practitioners were provided the opportunity to share the successes as well as barriers and challenges organizations face within the workforce skills and training sector.

How GenAI Will Impact Jobs and the Skills Needed to Perform Them (Indeed) 

Virtually every job will face some level of exposure to potential GenAI-driven change. But while GenAI can learn to do some tasks reasonably well, it is unlikely to fully replace many jobs— especially those that require manual skills and/or deep personal connections.
