CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are four reports that we found interesting this week.

Labour Force Survey, April 2022 (Statistics Canada)

Employment was little changed in April after two consecutive months of growth. The unemployment rate edged down 0.1 percentage points to 5.2%. Increases in employment in professional, scientific and technical services and public administration were offset by declines in construction and retail trade.

Just Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy (Office of the Auditor General of Canada)

This report concluded that Natural Resources Canada, working with Employment and Social Development Canada and partners on behalf of the federal government, was not prepared to support workers and their communities for a just transition to a low‑carbon economy. A list of recommendations is provided.

The State of Women’s Entrepreneurship in Canada (Women Entrepreneurship Knowledge Hub)

This report provides an overview of the characteristics of women’s entrepreneurship in Canada, before delving into the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on women entrepreneurs, the profiles and experiences of diverse women entrepreneurs, and enablers and barriers in the women’s entrepreneurship ecosystem.

Making Rural Immigration Work: Settlement Services in Small and Rural Communities (The Conference Board of Canada)

This paper looks at the challenges that small and rural communities face in attracting and retaining immigrants. It includes recommendations on how to overcome those challenges.
