Leveraging career guidance for adults to build back better (OECD)

This policy brief describes the impact of the pandemic on the demand for and the delivery of career guidance, documents countries’ efforts to maintain provision of career guidance services during lockdowns and explores the need to scale up career guidance going forward.

The future is micro: Digital learning and microcredentials for education, retraining and lifelong learning (Future Skills Centre)

Microcredentials are an innovative way to demonstrate proficiency in skills and competencies and offer a potentially transformative tool to address skills gaps in Canada’s labour market and future skills needs. Yet, they are also a relatively new innovation, and stakeholders need to overcome a number of challenges to underpin their widespread use and adoption.

International students as a source of labour supply: A summary of recent trends (Statistics Canada)

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, there were 528,200 international students in Canada in 2020, representing a 17% decrease from 2019 and the first annual decline in the international student population in Canada in 20 years. The number of international students increased to 621,600 in 2021.
