CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are three reports that we found interesting this week.

Settling for More: Matching Newcomers to Alberta’s Tech Sector (ICTC)

The report first covers labour demand among Alberta’s digital economy employers, and compares this to the supply of available talent among newcomers, finding that soft skills are in high demand and that newcomers are often overeducated and underemployed. The report then covers six challenges to newcomer participation in Alberta’s digital economy.

Fitter Minds, Fitter Jobs: From Awareness to Change in Integrated Mental Health, Skills and Work Policies (OECD)

A series of reviews of mental health and work policies in selected OECD countries revealed the challenge of mental health for social and labour market outcomes and policies and the high costs of the continued stigmatization of mental health for individuals, employers and societies. This report is an assessment of earlier recommendations on mental health, skills and work policy.

Digital Transitions in Lifelong Guidance: Rethinking Careers Practitioner Professionalism (CEDEFOP)

This is a collection of papers that focus on the broad theme of professionalizing the career guidance workforce and the particular competences fit for the digital and wider societal context. Attention is also paid to developments prior to, surrounding or triggered by the pandemic.
