Whether you’re looking for opportunities to network in person or advance your learning in a virtual space, there are numerous opportunities through conferences taking place over the next few months. Check out events taking place in March, April, May and June below, for career development professionals, counsellors, educators, HR professionals and others who intersect with careers work.

March
Black to the Future 2022 Summit

March 21 | Virtual

The Black to the Future Summit is an important gathering for engaging thought leadership within the local, regional and international Black-led, Black-serving and Black- focused non-profit community, bringing about change between service providers, government and industry partners.

All Things People Conference (Venture for Canada)

March 24-25 | Virtual

This virtual event is designed to help small businesses and start-ups refine their diversity, equity and inclusion approaches, practices and policies. Workshops led by People Operations, industry and JEDDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Decolonization, and Inclusivity) leaders will share practical solutions and discuss the importance of integrating People Operations.

Career Development Web Conference 2022 (BCCDA)

April 1 – May 19 | Virtual

This year’s BCCDA conference will offer multiple sessions spread out over April and May. Attendees can register for the complete collection of sessions, or simply choose those that interest them the most. This is an opportunity to update your knowledge and get inspired in your work.

2022 Virtual OCEA Spring Conference (Ontario Cooperative Education Association)

April 5 | Virtual

This event will bring together over 300 secondary school co-op and other forms of experiential learning teachers/educators from across Ontario for professional development and the sharing of best practices. Companies, organizations and employers will also be invited to participate in our virtual event.

EDCO Conference and Showcase (Economic Developers Council of Ontario)

April 5-7 | Hybrid | Toronto and online

Join this year’s hybrid EDCO Conference, around the theme of “Move On,” online or in person. This conference explores the pivotal role economic developers will play in reimagining Ontario’s economy.

Better Workplace Conference 2022 (The Conference Board of Canada)

April 5-7 | Virtual

This event will bring together thought leaders, researchers and industry experts for an evidence-based discussion on workplace well-being in 2022. Discussions will include: Reimagining the Better Workplace, Workplace Health and Wellness Disruptors and The Way Forward.

Global Deal Conference (OECD)

April 6-7 | Virtual

This event, organized in partnership with the Open Society Foundations, will focus on the critical role of essential workers in supporting economies, societies and businesses. It will bring together international organizations, governments, business leaders and worker representatives to discuss practical changes to improve the working lives of both formal and informal essential workers.

uLead 2022: Summit of Education Leadership Conference (Canadian Association of Principals)

April 10-12 | Banff, AB 

Join educational leaders from around the world at Canada’s premier conference for school-based leaders, district-level leaders, and provincial and state education leaders. ULead 2022 is co-sponsored by the Canadian Association of Principals and the Council for School Leadership, a specialist council of the Alberta Teachers’ Association.

2022 Career Thought Leaders Symposium

April 10-13 | Philadelphia

This three-day event will bring together leaders in the career services industry to explore the theme of “Flourishing in the future of work.” Sessions will be audio recorded and attendees will be provided with transcripts.

The Forum, by NAWB (National Association of Workforce Boards)

April 11-14 | Washington, DC

This in-person conference will feature opportunities for networking, including regional convenings, peer-to-peer engagement, and recruitment and mentorship opportunities. This annual workforce development conference brings together thought leaders, policy-makers and stakeholders.

HR Conference & Expo (CPHR BC & Yukon)

April 26-27 | Hybrid | Vancouver and online

This event marks the first true hybrid HR Conference & Expo from CPHR BC & Yukon, as the “Connect” Conference & Expo returns to a physical venue with an in-person audience, while continuing to offer a virtual platform for online attendees.

CICan 2022 Connection Conference (Colleges and Institutes Canada)

April 25-27 | Hybrid | Halifax and online

This year’s CICan Connection Conference, on the theme of “Navigating Anew,” will foster connections between post-secondary institutions from across the country and around the world. A featured stream on “Charting Teaching & Learning” will explore how to better orient institutions to ensure the success of their students.

HR Mental Health Canada (HRD)

April 26 | Virtual

The preliminary practices used to combat mental health issues at the start of the pandemic are no longer enough. ACDC 2022 (Career Development Association of Alberta)

May 3-4 | Virtual

The Alberta Career Development Conference, marking CDAA’s 25th anniversary year, highlights the theme of “Celebrating Community.” Topic areas will include: career counselling/coaching techniques; trends, tools and technology; career development research and theories; workforce planning and development; personal development and wellness; leadership, supervision and mentorship; and best practices for diverse client groups.

Contact Conference 2022 (Saskatoon Industry Education Council)

May 3-4 | Virtual

Contact 2022 – “Career Design – your DIY Project” – will present new ideas to continue to adapt, learn and pivot during a time of transition. SEMM Forum 2022 (Brainstorm Strategy Group)

CSSE Annual Conference (Canadian Society for the Study of Education)

May 14-20 | Virtual

As CSSE commemorates its 50th year, it contemplates past successes and looks toward shaping a healthier, relational, reciprocal, ethical and sustainable future. Sessions include “A Parallel Mediation Analysis of the Influence of Outreach Workshops on Students’ STEM Career Choices” and “Young Adult Women from Refugee Backgrounds and the Role that Gender plays in the pursuit of their Educational and Career Goals in Canada.”

APCDA/IAEVG Annual Conference 2022 (Asia Pacific Career Development Association and International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance)

The APCDA, which provides an international forum for sharing career development ideas and experience in the Asia Pacific, has partnered with the IAEVG, which provides global leadership in and advocates for guidance by promoting ethical, socially just and best practices throughout the world. CERIC Executive Director Riz Ibrahim will present a keynote on “Nurturing an Ecosystem for Lifelong Career Development.”

CCPA Annual Conference (Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association)

May 19-22 | Virtual

As we move from survival mode to dealing with the echo pandemic of mental health issues that will affect practice moving forward, we come together to find strength from and in collaboration. CCO Conference (Career Colleges Ontario)

May 25-26| Muskoka, ON

CCO’s programming is geared toward sector news and professional development, making the annual conference a popular event for career college professionals, operators and decision-makers. Dr. Christensen Hughes of Yorkville University will be the keynote speaker.

CAF 2022 National Apprenticeship Conference (Canadian Apprenticeship Forum)

May 29-31 | Halifax

National Apprenticeship Conference delegates include representatives from education, labour, business, federal and provincial/territorial governments and other organizations. The program will highlight initiatives and strategies that reflect three themes: Recovery, Resilience and Readiness.

ONECA Conference (Ontario Native Education Counselling Association)

May 30-June 1 | Sault Ste. Marie, ON

This conference attracts a wide spectrum of counselling delegates from across the province. It provides a venue for the mutual exchange of ideas and experiences as well as hosting a number of educational workshops and key presentations. This year’s theme is “Embracing Our Teachings in Times of Change.”

Supporting Women in Trades Conference 2022 (SWiT)

June 2-3 | St. John’s

This year’s program will offer interactive workshops, educational breakout sessions, and dedicated networking and support spaces. Join SWiT for a unique opportunity to learn, share and connect with apprentices and skilled trades workers who identify as women, their champions and community allies.

CASE Conference 2022 (Canadian Association for Supported Employment)

June 7-9 | Winnipeg

This year’s CASE Conference is on the theme of “Unlocking the Inclusive Economy.” Through 30+ sessions and workshops led by leaders and innovators in the field of supported employment, delegates will have the opportunity to explore best practices, innovative solutions to common challenges, the latest trends and research findings, and opportunities for networking and community building.
