CareerWise is always on the lookout for the latest reports related to career development. Here are four reports that we found interesting this week:
The Future of Work (Deloitte)
This report outlines a future world of work shaped by the COVID-19 pandemic which requires more transparent and consultative leadership, greater focus from employees on career development as automation increases and a more proactive role for governments to invest to close the digital divide.
Skills development in the time of COVID-19: Taking stock of the initial responses in technical and vocational education and training (International Labour Organization)
The report is intended to help all those concerned to address current and future crises in their delivery of TVET and to manage the learning and training process effectively and to a high standard. Lessons may also be drawn for the post-crisis period, to strengthen the resilience and responsiveness of TVET systems and to inform broader reform efforts.
Who Were the Men and Women Entering Business Ownership in Canada in 2016? (Statistics Canada)
Although women and men were influenced by almost the same factors, statistically significant gender differences were found for all variables and showed that men tended to enter business ownership proportionately more than women. This study’s findings are relevant in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic since the pandemic has generated shocks that echo factors analyzed in the paper.
The future of work after COVID-19 (McKinsey)
The pandemic accelerated existing trends in remote work, e-commerce and automation, with up to 25% more workers than previously estimated potentially needing to switch occupations.
