As technology and globalization evolve, it is important to continue tracking how the nature of work is evolving in the Canadian workplace. The pace at which changes are happening is particularly important since there are fears that technology may significantly alter or even completely replace certain jobs.

The Immigration Paradox: How an Influx of Newcomers Has Led to Labour Shortages (C.D. Howe Institute)

This study investigates the effects of Canada’s expansive immigration policy, implemented between 2016 and 2024, on labour shortages. It explores how the influx of permanent and temporary immigrants has affected the balance between labour supply and demand.

Right Brain, Left Brain, AI Brain: AI’s impact on jobs and skill demand in Canada’s workforce (The Dais)

This study categorizes occupations in Canada along two measures: one that looks at the level to which occupations are exposed to artificial intelligence (an “exposure” measure) and another that looks at the potential for AI to assist workers in an occupation (a “complementarity” measure).
