As fall gets under way, career and workforce professionals can look forward to various conferences nationwide and internationally. From September through November, these events offer opportunities to learn, network and share insights with peers in the field. Explore the details below for conferences taking place this season.

Sept. 20-22 | Toronto

Canada’s premiere 2SLGBTQIA+ student-employer engagement conference will return to Toronto from Sept. 20 to 22. Stay tuned for keynote speakers.

EDAC 2024 (Economic Developers Association of Canada)

Sept.30 – Oct.3 | Edmonton

The EDAC Annual Conference brings together community leaders, economic development professionals and entrepreneurs to share innovative ideas and solutions to challenges across Canada. Listed sessions include “Unleashing Passion, Purpose, and Performance in Younger Generations” and “Innovation Ecosystems: Cultivating Collaboration & Fueling Community Growth.”

CPHR Alberta 2024

Oct. 1-2 | Virtual and in-person in Calgary

Join fellow HR professionals at the CPHR Alberta Conference, themed “Reimagine,” to explore innovative solutions to today’s workplace challenges. Dive into the future of HR with tools and strategies to advance people and culture. The conference features keynote sessions from leading HR experts, panel discussions, virtual sessions and in-person sessions.

CPHR Atlantic 2024

Oct. 7-9 | Fredericton

This year’s conference will explore the theme of “A Workplace for All,” with sessions on AI in talent management, mental health in the workplace and recruitment-based immigration. Be sure to check back for a finalized agenda.

Inclusion Works ’24 (Indigenous Works)

Oct. 8-10 | Nanaimo, BC

This year’s Inclusion Works conference is the first in-person event since 2019. It continues to unite over 100 employer partners, organizations, experienced practitioners and leaders for a learning experience focused on Indigenous relations, employment, workplace inclusion, business development, environment, social and governance and EDI.

NRWA 2024 Conference (National Résumé Writers’ Association)

Oct. 8-10 | Virtual and in-person in Providence, RI

This year’s NRWA Conference has been revamped to promote high-impact learning and powerful engagement. The hybrid event will feature a lineup of speakers, interactive workshops and networking opportunities. Designed for solopreneurs, business owners, higher education and workforce development professionals, it will also include a new post-conference event focusing on AI’s impact on the industry.

Nova Scotia Recognize Prior Learning Best Practices Forum (Nova Scotia Career Development Association)

Oct. 15-17 | Halifax

Join RPL (recognition of prior learning) practitioners, administrators, career development professionals and adult educators. Explore local initiatives, share challenges and work toward greater inclusivity and impact in recognizing prior learning. The conference features keynotes, concurrent sessions, plenary discussions and conversation-cafe style sessions, all centred around the theme of “story.”

Indigenomics Bay Street (Indigenous Institute)

Oct. 16-18 | Toronto

The conference invites changemakers, innovators and leaders from the corporate and financial sectors, government and Indigenous businesses nationwide to explore critical themes related to the $100 billion Indigenous economy, focusing on Indigenous economic power. The call for presenters is currently open.

2024 CDAA Conference (Career Development Association of Australia)

Oct. 20-23 | Melbourne, Australia

The CDAA Conference exclusively focuses on career development research, theory and practice, offering a cross-sectoral perspective. Enjoy interactive sessions from keynote speakers and presenters and optional interactive masterclass sessions.

CPHR Manitoba’s HR Conference

Oct. 22-23 | Winnipeg

This year’s CPHR Manitoba conference theme, “Workplace Intelligence,” highlights HR professionals as change leaders, focusing on prioritizing people in the technological era, fostering a healthy and inclusive work culture, enhancing connection in remote and hybrid settings and leveraging AI while maintaining human perspectives and emotional intelligence.

2024 Futures Workforce Development Conference (First Work)

Oct. 28-30 | Blue Mountain, ON

The Futures Conference, Ontario’s largest workforce development event, brings together over 400 professionals across Canada. Hosted by First Work, the annual conference offers insights into labour market trends, best practices for engagement and discussions to enhance employment programming and professional growth.

Gartner ReimagineHR Conference

Oct. 28-30 | Orlando, FL

HR officers and leaders can expand their professional networks through roundtable discussions, chief human resource officer circles, peer conservations and Gartner one-on-one meetings. Attendees will also have the chance to learn about the newest HR insights, strategies and technology optimization. Learning streams include HR leadership, talent management, recruiting, learning and development, total rewards, diversity, equity and inclusion, and HR tech and analytics.

Talent Connect (LinkedIn)

Oct. 28-30 | Virtual and in-person in Phoenix, AZ

Talent Connect’s in-person portion will host an exclusive, invite-only event for talent leaders. The virtual portion of the event, Talent Connect Show, is a two-day, free global broadcast designed for professionals in talent acquisition, recruitment, learning & development, employee experience and EDI. The themes for both events are Talent Attraction & Acquisition, Talent Development, Future of HR and Unlocking Value with LinkedIn.

CAGS Conference (Canadian Association for Graduate Students)

Oct. 29 – Nov.1 | Toronto

Join the Canadian Association for Graduate Studies (CAGS) for its 62nd Annual Conference, exploring “Graduate Education in an Age of Uncertainty: Challenges and Opportunities.” This event will bring together leaders in graduate education from across Canada. Attendees can participate in panel discussions, roundtables, lightning talks, workshops and daily plenary sessions that address the pressing issues and opportunities in graduate studies.

2024 CAEL Annual Conference (Council for Adult and Experiential Learning)

Oct. 30 – Nov.1 | Virtual and in-person in New Orleans, LA

The 50th annual CAEL conference is a unique opportunity to learn from educators, employers and community leaders interested in aligning learning and work focused on post-secondary education, workforce and economic development and industry. This year’s learning tracks include intelligent solutions, adult learner ecosystem models, workforce talent solutions, policy and advocacy, equity and access and adult learner engagement.

OSCA Conference (Ontario School Counsellors’ Association)

Nov 3-4 | Mississauga, ON

The Ontario School Counsellor’s Association will hold its 60th anniversary conference this November. Over 300 guidance counsellors and career educators from Ontario will attend to explore the theme “The Future is Now – Embrace the Change.”

ONECA Conference 2024

Nov 4-6 | Salut Ste. Marie, ON

ONECA’s three-day conference unites counselling delegates across Ontario and offers educational workshops, presentations and networking opportunities. This year’s theme, “Weaving Friendships – Creating Balance,” will focus on building and sharing knowledge to improve counselling and support for Indigenous students.

Rethinking Disability Conference 2024 (Ontario Disability Employment Network)

Nov. 4-6 | Richmond Hill, ON

Designed for employment-service agencies and businesses, this conference from ODEN seeks to enhance professional development, increase capacity, and teach new skills in services and inclusive-hiring processes. In addition, ODEN is offering a Business Sector Stream that aims to help businesses and employers develop disability awareness.

SEMM Forum (Brainstorm Strategy Group)

Nov. 5-7 | Toronto

Professionals who work to recruit or engage students in their post-secondary experience in Canada will want to attend the SEMM forum – Canada’s largest event for post-secondary marketing, recruitment, student success and enrolment management. Registration is now open.

2024 NACC & CCO Joint National Conference (National Association of Career Colleges and Career Colleges Ontario)

Nov. 6-8 | Toronto

This year the NACC and CCO have joined forces, offering a conference for career education professionals. Join industry leaders, educators and experts nationwide to discuss new ideas, address sector challenges and shape the future of career education.

2024 CES Conference (Career Education Society)

Nov. 7-8 | Vancouver

CES is an organization that includes leaders in education, business, industry, labour and government who work together to champion career and learning management. Participants can attend a keynote speech by Dr. Candy Ho, several workshops and a networking reception.

ASPECT BC Conference 24 (Association of Service Providers for Employability & Career Training)

Nov. 7-8 | Victoria

ASPECT BC will host its 34th annual conference this November. The conference will include content for frontline workers, career developers, and organizational managers and leaders. Delegates can expect to learn from plenary and professional development presentations, panels, roundtable discussions, community consultations and workshops.

IAEVG International Conference 2024 (International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance)

Nov. 12-14 | Jyväskylä, Finland

Join researchers, policymakers and practitioners worldwide to engage in meaningful discussion about the future of educational and vocational guidance. This year’s theme, “Riding Waves for Change,” focuses on enhancing accessibility, leveraging digital advancements, promoting equity and sustainability in guidance services and more.

2024 Professional Development Virtual Conference Series (Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning Ontario)

Nov. 19-21 | Virtual

Experiential and Work-Integrated Learning Ontario (EWO) is a non-profit organization made up of post-secondary and publicly funded organizations in the province that offer co-operative education and experiential and work-integrated learning. This year’s conference theme is “Emerging WIL [work integrated learning] and EL [experiential learning] Trends: Innovate, Integrate, Motivate.”

CWCF Conference 2024 (The Canadian Worker Co-op Federation)

Nov.19-21 | Virtual

The CWCF is a membership organization of and for worker co-operatives and organizations that support the growth and development of worker co-operatives. This year’s Worker Co-operative Conference is under the banner of “Unleashing Worker Co-ops for Success.” Stay tuned for conference details. Canadian Immigration Summit 2024

Nov. 20-21 | Ottawa

I4PL Conference 2024: Shake it Up! (The Institute for Performance and Learning)

The annual I4PL Conference returns this year, focusing on the rapid evolution in learning and development driven by new technologies like AI. Bringing together hundreds of learning and development professionals from various sectors across Canada, this two-day, in-person conference features a lineup of industry experts, keynote speakers and thought leaders. NBCDA ANNUAL Conference (New Brunswick Career Development Association)

Nov. 26-28 | Fredericton

The NBCDA is a non-profit partnership organization committed to career development in New Brunswick. It will hold its annual conference this November in Fredericton. This year’s conference theme is “Making Connections.” Check the website for the finalized agenda.
