Technology-enabled Interventions in the Skills and Employment Ecosystem (Future Skills Centre)

This paper outlines places where technology can or is providing innovative approaches to skills training. This includes the assessment of skills, development of skills, and the alignment of supply and demand — including advancing bias-free recruitment.

Labour Force Survey, October 2020 (Statistics Canada)

Employment increased by 84,000 (0.5%) in October, after growing by an average of 2.7% per month since May. Employment increases in several industries were partially offset by a decrease of 48,000 in the accommodation and food services industry, largely in Quebec.

How Do Canadian Youth Perceive Careers in the Trades? (Council of Ministers of Education)

On average, across participating provinces, when asked whether they are planning to pursue a job in the trades, 15-year-old Canadian students responded with a low level of interest in such career pathways. Nine percent of students reported that they plan on pursuing a job in the trades, while 52% reported they are not.
