Human resources professionals play an integral role in the career development of a company’s employees and prospective hires, from managing recruiting to facilitating professional development opportunities. These associations aim to bring together Canadians working in human resources and individuals who are otherwise interested in PD within the workplace to boost knowledge and build best practices.

Canadian Employee Assistance Program Association (CEAPA)

CEAPA aims to mobilize the Canadian EAP community to provide effective assistance to employees and their families, through the promotion of standards, education, information and advocacy. Members can participate in teleconference discussions and meetings, network with other members and contribute to articles.

Chartered Professionals in Human Resources Canada / Conseillers en ressources humaines agréés canada (CPHR / CRHA)

CPHR/CRHA aims to protect the public and advance the economic and social success of Canadian workplaces through strategic HR leadership. It has provincial member associations in Alberta, British Columbia & Yukon, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan.

Canadian Industrial Relations Association (CIRA)

CIRA is a diverse network of people promoting research, discussion and education in the field of work, labour, employment and industrial relations. CIRA is open to any individual interested in industrial relations, work, labour and employment, including unionization, union-management relations, labour and employment law and HR management.

Coalition of Community-Based Employability Trainers (CCCBET)

CCCBET is a national, non-profit organization whose membership comprises representatives from provincial and national non-profit employment and training associations and organizations. Members have the opportunity to advocate for the community-based employment training sector, access networking opportunities and promote the sharing of promising practices across provinces.

Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC)

CHRC brings together representatives of arts disciplines and cultural industries in the cultural sector to address the training, career development and other human resources needs of employers and cultural workers.

Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA)

The HRPA is Ontario’s HR regulator and association. It offers learning opportunities, resources and a community of peers that strengthen HR professionals’ practice.

Institute for Performance and Learning (I4PL)

I4PL is a not-for-profit membership organization for workplace learning professionals. I4PL exists to elevate the performance and learning profession by setting the standard for excellence in professional practice through a competency framework, code of ethics and professional designations.

International Personnel Management Association-Canada (IPMA/AIGP)

IPMA-Canada is a not-for-profit, volunteer-based association serving the HR community. IPMA-Canada offers developed the first comprehensive international human resource certification program in Canada.
