Stay informed about the the latest in career development theory and practice with these journals from Canada and around the world. This not a comprehensive list of journals that would be of interest to career professionals; psychology, education and counselling journals – among others – also publish articles related to career development.

African Journal of Career Development

The African Journal of Career Development (AJCD) is a peer-reviewed scholarly journal that provides a forum for the dissemination of cutting-edge research relating to career development predominantly in Africa (but also to career development elsewhere in the world).

Asia Pacific Career Development Journal

The APCDJ is an international biannual scholarly journal dedicated to all career development and intervention-related topics, such as career counselling, individual and organizational career development, work and leisure, career education, career coaching and career management.

Australian Journal of Career Development

The AJCD focuses on current theory, practice and policy relating to the career and work education field. It accepts research that is of international interest and increases understanding of the career development of children, adolescents and adults, whatever their setting: school, college/university, business/work, family and the community.

British Journal of Guidance & Counselling

The aim of the British Journal of Guidance & Counselling is to publish work that sets trends and provokes fresh thought and innovation in the practice and understanding of counselling, psychotherapy and career guidance.

Canadian Journal of Career Development

The CJCD is a peer-reviewed publication of multi-sectoral career-related academic research and best practices from Canada and around the world. The Journal welcomes articles that deal with career development in its broadest sense.

Career Development International

Previously published as International Journal of Career Management, Career Development International deals with questions of theories and theory development, as well as with organizational career strategy, policy and practice.

The Career Development Quarterly

CDQ is the official journal of the National Career Development Association (NCDA). This Journal contains articles on career counselling and development, work, leisure, career education, and coaching and management.

CEAV E-Journal 

The Australian CEAV E-Journal features reports, articles, conference information, research stories and reviews of products and programs in career development. It is not a peer-reviewed publication.

Indian Journal of Career and Livelihood Planning

The Indian Journal of Career and Livelihood Planning is published by the Indian Association of Career and Livelihood Planning. The Journal aims to support the development of culture-resonant models for guidance and counselling in countries where these efforts have been few and far between.

International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance 

The International Journal for Educational and Vocational Guidance is the professional journal of the IAEVG (International Association for Educational and Vocational Guidance). It publishes articles from all countries in relation to career development, career counselling and guidance, career education as well as work and leisure, which have preferably either international content or contribute to topics of broad international interest.

Journal of Career Assessment

Journal of Career Assessment (JCA) provides methodologically sound, empirically based studies focusing on assessment, career development and vocational psychology.

Journal of Career Development

JCD provides professionals in counselling, psychology, education, student personnel, human resources and business management with the most up-to-date concepts, ideas and methodology in career development theory, research and practice.

Journal of Employment Counseling

JEC is the official journal of the National Employment Counseling Association (NECA). It illuminates theory and practice in employment counselling, reports professional experimentation and research, and examines current client vocational problems as well as the professional concerns of counsellors.

Journal of the National Institute for Career Education and Counselling (NICEC Journal)

This Journal is published twice a year in partnership with the Career Development Institute. It publishes articles on the broad theme of career development in all contexts. NICEC Journal has a UK and international readership.

Journal of Vocational Behavior

The Journal of Vocational Behavior publishes original empirical and theoretical articles that contribute novel insights to the fields of career choice, career development and work adjustment across the lifespan.
